Blind rivets are widely used in Automotive industry. An example of the various applications is on car speakers: using a blind rivet instead of screw and die to fasten the speaker to the door halves the installation time, but at the same time guarantees high mechanical features.
Our laboratory designed an ad hoc product: a multigrip blind rivet to fill in the over-size hole; a soft mandrel with lower resistance to prevent the plastic to break; specific mechanical features to ensure high resistance to the vibration the car is subject to while driving.
