BLIND RIVETS FOR FLIGHT CASES

Fastening systems to withstand shocks, but on soft material

Case study

A special grooving to ensure adhesion and resistance

Even if we always hope it will not happen to our luggage, we all know that when traveling they are not treated with due care, thrown here and there like flags in the wind. The thought gets even greater when carrying fragile equipment, such as musical instruments or technical material. This is why flight cases are the ideal solution, rigid protective cases with reinforced metal edges.

“The fastening systems we used always risked cracking the fiberglass of our flight cases, but with the rivets that Sariv developed for us we don’t have to worry about it anymore.”

THE CHALLENGE

These containers must be resistant to protect the contents from impact, but at the same time they must be also light to facilitate transportation: for this reason they are usually made of fiberglass panels and padded inside. The blind rivets that are used must therefore join the metal edges with the walls of softer material, ensuring tightness but without damaging the surfaces.

OUR SOLUTION

Among our blind rivets, grooved rivets have always found wide use because they are ideal for application on blind holes and soft materials.

However, we have developed a new custom solution we want to share with you: it is a steel/steel multigrip rivet grooved in a special way, and shorter than the standard version to ensure that the mandrel head remains inside the hole and the fabric can be easily glued.

RESULTS

The direct cooperation between our customer and our technical department is the value that has allowed us to develop the most suitable blind rivet for the product. Thanks to the direct study of the application, we were able to provide the specific customized solution.
